No, I’m not talking imposter syndrome but who is your customer/client. Or as we refer to them in marketing your persona/avatar?
Knowing your target audience
Who is your customer? What do they look like? What do they like? What do they dislike? How do they buy things? Where do they go?
Every business needs to know what their customer looks like, their likes and dislikes, what are they passionate about, how do you ensure the messages and communications you send or post are received effectively by the right person.
Why is it important?
Create a persona/avatar to put a name and face to your customer to understand them at a deep level. In other words, create your "Alice".
Some businesses think that everyone is their customer and maybe they have a wide range but not everyone will buy your product and/or service. When writing your social media posts, advertisements, and communications if you try and write/communicate to everyone you will miss the people most important to your business. Why? Because they won’t know that you are communicating to them. You need to write and target your communications/social media posts to your persona/avatar. If you have that person front and centre when you are composing your messages then you write with just them in mind and what you want to get across to them and what action you may want them to take.
But how do you measure it?
Communicate to your"Alice" and if they respond you know your message is working and you have achieved what you set out to do with your message. If you lose anyone, then they weren’t your customer/"Alice" in the first place and whilst they may have been responding to your communications they will probably never purchase anything from you. So, you haven’t lost anything but gained a more loyal customer as they know you are talking to them.
If you want to find out how who your "Alice" is , let me know.
